One o the things that I love most about being a Professional School Counselor is that each day is different from the last. Throughout my internship experiences, I have needed to call upon the knowledge, skills, and life experiences I have had to meet my students where they are and respond to unique and sometimes critical situations. It is all of these experiences, combined with the professional development and courses I have had up until now, along with the fostering of my own interpersonal growth through my own group and individual counseling experiences which have provided me the specific skill set and experiential knowledge to be an outstanding Transformed Professional School Counselor!
(a) Monitor and refine their work with continuous, in-depth reflection.
During the course of each day I was at my internship sites, my supervisor and I carved out time to meet and discuss any questions I had, specific student sessions, communicate information to work collaboratively, consult on a case, to reflect on how I felt sessions went, what I had learned, what I could improve or see differently, and so my supervisor could share their experiential knowledge with me as necessary.
This provided great opportunities for growth and allowed me to continually develop my skills as Professional School Counselor.
Counseling Reflections
Included below are some artifacts that I have created during the course of my Master’s Degree program that reflect on my perspective of counseling which I find supportive or useful in being a Professional School Counselor.
